I'm passionate about developing learners in my classroom. However, not just any kind of learner - learners who think deeply about the world around them. In my classroom, I incorporate : thinking stems (For example: I'm wondering...), inquiry areas, thinking routines, etc to help develop my learners' thinking. However, I want this mindset to continue at home as well - not just in my classroom. One way I encourage parents to develop their child as a thinker is by including a little snippet in my newsletter/blog on how they can stimulate that kind of mindset. Below is a handout I received from my school on Making Thinking Visible for parents. Every couple of weeks I change my "Making Thinking Visible" area on my blog to include a new idea from the chart below to encourage parents to adopt a new mindset for thinking/learning. What do you do to encourage parents to develop their child as a thinker?
