Circle of "Trust"

Through my research, both professionally and personally, I have begun to see some connections. The other night, the concept of trust hit me and really made me think deeply about it. So I am trusting and posting my thoughts on this....

Ok, now stay with me...
When you are a baby, you trust the people around you to provide you with food, water, love, clothing, etc. - they are meeting your basic needs. As you grow, people hurt your feelings, you hurt others feelings and you begin to question who you can trust. You take those feelings with you as you move through life.

In turn, those feelings impact how you see the environment around you. No judgement because we all do it - we all have feelings that impact our world. But think about how trust impacts the culture of your school or your classroom?
Some questions to ask yourself:
-Do my students trust me?
-Do I trust my students?
-Do I feel my administrator trusts me?

-Do I trust my administrator?
-Most importantly......do I trust myself?
You can ask those questions in any way that you want. The most important part is the concept of trust. I like to think of it in a circle...I call it, "The Circle of Trust."

Without trust, we do not try new things, we do not expand our consciousness to other possibilities. It is a complete circle, it has to come from everyone. When trust is in the relationship, people are willing to be innovative and push past their limitations....and see things in a different light.

Obviously, I am no expert on this and I've only truly began thinking about the circle of trust idea. But I am a big believer in how the inside of you is reflected on the outside. My favorite quote from Gandhi  is, "Be the change you want to see in the world."

Your school is your world, how can you contribute to that change?
